Welcome & Call to Worship
[Isaiah 12]
We will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with us,
your anger turned away, and you comforted us.
Surely God is our salvation; we will trust, and will not be afraid.
For the Lord God is our strength and our might; he has become our salvation.
With joy we will draw water from the wells of salvation.
Let us worship the LORD!
Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken (Hymn 446)
Newton/Haydn
Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God;
God, whose word cannot be broken, formed thee for a blest abode.
On the rock of ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation’s walls surrounded, thou may’st smile at all thy foes.
See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love,
Well supply thy sons and daughters and all fear of want remove.
Who can faint while such a river ever flows their thirst to assuage?
Grace, which like the Lord the giver, never fails from age to age.
Round each habitation hovering, see the cloud and fire appear
For a glory and a covering, showing that the Lord is near.
Thus deriving from their banner light by night and shade by day,
Safe they feed upon the manna which God gives them when they pray.
Confession
Life-giving God, you know who we are and everything we have done. May your words to us provoke the truth: we fail a lot, but there is always the possibility of change. Forgive us when we sink into shame and keep trying to meet our needs in broken ways. Forgive us for the ways our communities or cultural systems make things harder for those who are already struggling. Show us a better way; help us listen to the people you seek out and live in the abundance of your love. Amen.
Silence
As the Deer
Nystrom
As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.
[Psalm 42:1]

Call to Stewardship
So those who were engaged in the work labored, and the repairing went forward at their hands, and they restored the house of God to its proper condition and strengthened it.

Sending: I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say
Bonar/English Country Songs
I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest;
Lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was, so weary, worn, and sad;
I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give
The living water, thirsty one; stoop down and drink and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.
I heard the voice of Jesus, say, “I am this dark world’s light;
Look unto me, your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun;
And in that light of life I’ll walk till traveling days are done.
