Prelude: Poco allegretto

Welcome & Call to Worship
[Psalm 4]
Answer us when we call, O God! You gave us room when we were in distress.
Be gracious to us, and hear our prayer.
Know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself; the Lord hears when we call to him.
You have put gladness in our hearts more than when grain and wine abound.
Let us worship the LORD!
Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing! (Hymn 111)
Alington/Vulpius
Good Christians all, rejoice and sing! Now is the triumph of our King!
To all the world glad news we bring: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise we in songs of victory that love, that life which cannot die,
And sing with hearts uplifted high: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thy name we bless, O risen Lord, and sing today with one accord
The life laid down, the life restored: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Confession
God of love, we know you because you chose us, though not for our numbers or merit. Forgive us when we offer love only to those whom we think have earned it. You gave yourself to us by sending your Son into the world for our benefit. As we ponder what it means to love in difficult times, help us follow your example. When there is so much pain in the world, we are tempted to take refuge in indifference. Forgive us and help us be people who choose to care. Amen.

Ah, Holy Jesus (Hymn 93)
Heermann/Crüger
Therefore, dear Jesus, since I cannot pay You,
I do adore You, and will ever praise You,
Think on Your pity and Your love unswerving,
Not my deserving.
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ
Peace
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
Doxology (Hymn 592)
Ken/Genevan Psalter
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

All Hail the Power (Hymn 142)
Perronet/Rippon/Holden
All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all!
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all!
Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all!
Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all!
Sermon: Love Revealed
Scott Starbuck
Theme: Love begins with God’s choosing.
Response: O Love, How Deep, How Broad, How High (Hymn 83)
Thomas à Kempis/ “The Agincourt Song”
O love, how deep, how broad, how high, how passing thought and fantasy,
That God, the Son of God, should take our mortal form for mortals’ sake.
For us He rose from death again; for us He went on high to reign;
For us He sent the Spirit here to guide, to strengthen, and to cheer.
All glory to our Lord and God for love so deep, so high, so broad:
The Trinity whom we adore forever and forevermore.
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Call to Stewardship
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. -Luke 6:27-28
Sending: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling (Hymn 376)
Wesley/Prichard
Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, all Thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.
Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return, and never, nevermore Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing, serve Thee as Thy hosts above;
Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing, glory in Thy perfect love.
Finish, then, Thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see Thy great salvation perfectly restored in Thee;
Changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.
