Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 5]

O Lord, in the morning you hear our voice; in the morning we plead our case to you, and watch.

The boastful will not stand before your eyes; lead us, O LORD, in your righteousness.

Through the abundance of your steadfast love, we will enter your house, we will bow down in awe of you.

Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy.

Let us worship the LORD!

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! (Hymn 138)

Dykes/Heber

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinfulness Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Confession

God who listens, our culture is full of voices competing for attention with their loudness and their fast, dramatic reactions. Forgive us when we trust boldness and confidence more than a slower response with nuance or uncertainty. In our conversations, forgive us for the times we fail to listen to the person in front of us. When we feel too weak or slow to compete with the noise and offer anything worthwhile, help us trust your power and presence with us, moving towards justice and mercy. Amen.

Song of Gratitude: Give Thanks

Smith

Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One,
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say, “We are strong,”
let the poor say, “We are rich” because of what the Lord has done for us.

Give thanks. Give thanks. Give thanks.

[Ephesians 5:19-20]

Call to Stewardship

God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. -Genesis 45:7

Sending: Lord, Speak to Me, That I May Speak (Hymn 426)

Havergal/Schumann

Lord, speak to me, that I may speak in living echoes of Thy tone;
As Thou hast sought, so let me seek Thine erring children lost and lone.

O lead me, Lord, that I may lead the wandering and the wavering feet;
O feed me, Lord, that I may feed Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.

O teach me, Lord, that I may teach the precious things Thou dost impart;
And wing my words, that they may reach the hidden depths of many-a heart.

O fill me with Thy fullness, Lord, until my very heart o’erflow
In kindling thought and glowing word, Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.
