Prelude: O Perfect Love
Barnby/Lachenauer
Welcome & Call to Worship
[Isaiah 43]
Thus says the LORD, he who created you: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
When you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
You are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you; do not fear, for I am with you.”
Let us worship the LORD!
Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee (Hymn 464)
Dyke/Beethoven
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love,
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the gloom of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.
All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in Thee.
Mortals, join the happy chorus which the morning stars began;
Love divine is reigning o’er us, joining all in heaven’s plan.
Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life.
Confession
Creator God, we are precious in your sight. Throughout our lives, we face a variety of trials. Forgive us when we interpret them as a sign of your disfavor. We often seek to avoid pain as much as possible rather than finding you with us in it. Forgive us when we forget what it means to have you on our side. You have chosen to love us and redeem us. Help us trust that love more deeply, and lead us forward with a renewed sense of your presence. Amen.

Jesus, Thy Boundless Love to Me (Hymn 366)
Gerhardt/Hemy
Jesus, Thy boundless love to me no thought can reach, no tongue declare;
O knit my thankful heart to Thee, and reign without a rival there!
Thine wholly, Thine alone, I’d live, myself to Thee entirely give.
O grant that nothing in my soul may dwell, but Thy pure love alone;
O may Thy love possess me whole, my joy, my treasure, and my crown!
All coldness from my heart remove; may every act, word, thought be love.
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ
Peace
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
Doxology (Hymn 592)
Ken/Genevan Psalter
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less (Hymn 379)
Mote/Bradbury
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. (refrain)
His oath, his covenant, his blood support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way, he then is all my hope and stay. (refrain)
When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found,
Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne. (refrain)

Call to Stewardship
The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, seeing that Abraham shall become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? No, for I have chosen him, that he may charge his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice; so that the Lord may bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.” -Genesis 18:17-19
Sending: I Come With Joy to Meet My Lord (Hymn 507)
Wren/American folk melody
I come with joy to meet my Lord, forgiven, loved, and free,
In awe and wonder to recall His life laid down for me,
His life laid down for me.
I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed,
The new community of love in Christ’s communion bread,
In Christ’s communion bread.
As Christ breaks bread and bids us share, each proud division ends.
The love that made us, makes us one, and strangers now are friends,
And strangers now are friends.
And thus, with joy we meet our Lord. His presence, always near,
Is in such friendship better know: we see and praise Him here,
We see and praise Him here.
Together met, together bound, we’ll go our different ways,
And as His people in the world, we’ll live and speak His praise,
We’ll live and speak His praise.
