Prelude

John Bodinger

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 31]

In you, O Lord, we seek refuge; do not let us be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver us.

Let your face shine upon your servants; save us in your steadfast love.

Let the lying lips be stilled that speak against the righteous with pride and contempt.

O how abundant is your goodness that you have laid up for those who fear you, and accomplished for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of everyone!

Let us worship the LORD!

God Is Here! (Hymn 461)

Green/Taylor

God is here! As we your people meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure what it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us, all our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit into open minds and hearts.

Here are symbols to remind us of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font, and pulpit; here the cross has central place.
Here in honesty of preaching, here in silence, as in speech,
Here, in newness and renewal, God the Spirit comes to each.

Lord of all, of church and kingdom, in an age of change and doubt
Keep us faithful to the gospel, help us work your purpose out.
Here in this day’s dedication, all we have to give, receive:
We, who cannot live without you, we adore you! We believe!

Confession

God of light and mystery, you have revealed yourself to us in the life and teachings of Jesus. We hope that others see your light reflected in us, but we know our own flaws and failings. Forgive us for the ways and times the church has stood for judgment more than love. Forgive us when we are preoccupied with our own guilt or innocence. Help us recognize the ways and places you would have us serve, that we may rest in your guidance, do our part, and leave judgment to you. Amen.

O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee (Hymn 357)

Gladden/Smith

O Master, let me walk with Thee in lowly paths of service free;
Tell me Thy secret; help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Doxology (Hymn 592)

Praise God, all creatures here below;

All that see and share God’s love. Alleluia!

Praise the Lord, great mercies trace, Alleluia!
Praise this providence and grace, Alleluia!
All that God for us has done, Alleluia!

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Call to Stewardship

Gary Guenther

For you know the generous act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich. -2 Corinthians 8:9

Sending: God Whose Giving Knows No Ending (Hymn 422)

Edwards/The Sacred Harp

God, whose giving knows no ending, from Your rich and endless store,
Nature’s wonder, Jesus’ wisdom, costly cross, grave’s shattered door:
Gifted by You, we turn to You, offering up ourselves in praise;
Thankful song shall rise forever, gracious donor of our days.

Skills and time are ours for pressing toward the goals of Christ, Your Son:
All at peace in health and freedom, races joined, the church made one.
Now direct our daily labor, lest we strive for self alone;
Born with talents, make us servants fit to answer at Your throne.

Treasure too You have entrusted, gain through powers Your grace conferred;
Ours to use for home and kindred, and to spread the gospel Word.
Open wide our hands, in sharing, as we heed Christ’s ageless call,
Healing, teaching, and reclaiming, serving You by loving all.
