Prelude: What Wondrous Love is This
Southern Harmony, arr. Barr
Welcome & Call to Worship
[Psalm 112]
Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.
It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever.
They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
Let us worship the LORD!
O Sing to the Lord
Brazilian folk song
O sing to the Lord; O sing God a new song. (repeat twice)
O sing to our God; O sing to our God.
By his holy power our God has done wonders. (repeat twice)
O sing to our God; O sing to our God.
For Jesus is Lord! Amen! Alleluia! (repeat twice)
O sing to our God; O sing to our God.
Confession
God of power and mystery, you have shown us your ways through the words of prophets, through Jesus and his disciples, and through people of faith in our lives today. You speak through humans, even in our weakness and fear, even in Christ crucified. Forgive us when we feel that we need to be impressive in order to attract people to you. Forgive us when we rely too much on human wisdom and too little on your Spirit within us. Strengthen our faith and take us deeper into the mystery of your love, that we may speak your words truly. Amen.

Hear the Good News of Salvation (Hymn 355)
Native American (Dakota)/Wyeth’s Repository of Sacred Music
Hear the good news of salvation: Jesus died to show God’s love.
Such great kindness! Such great mercy! Come to us from heaven above.
Refrain:
Jesus Christ, how much I love you! Jesus Christ, you save from sin!
How I love you! Look upon me. Love me still and cleanse within.
All the sins I have committed to my Savior now I bring.
I bow down with tears of anguish; Christ forgives and so I sing: (Refrain)
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ
Peace
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.

Eternal Light, Shine in My Heart
Alcuin/MARYTON
Eternal light, shine in my heart; eternal hope, lift up my eyes;
Eternal power, be my support; eternal wisdom, make me wise.
Eternal life, raise me from death; eternal brightness, help me see;
Eternal Spirit, give me breath; eternal Savior, come to me:
Until by Your most costly grace, invited by Your holy word,
At last I come before Your face to know You, my eternal God.

Focus: Faith endures not because it is impressive, but because it rests on God’s self-giving power revealed in Christ crucified.

Call to Stewardship
And when the Lord smelled the pleasing odor, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of humankind, for the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done. As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
-Genesis 8:21-22
Sending: Arise, Your Light Is Come! (Hymn 411)
Duck/Walter
Arise, your light is come! The Spirit’s call obey;
Show forth the glory of your God, which shines on you today.
Arise, your light is come! Fling wide the prison door;
Proclaim the captives’ liberty, good tidings to the poor.
Arise, your light is come! All you in sorrow born,
Bind up the broken-hearted ones and comfort those who mourn.
Arise, your light is come! The mountains burst in song!
Rise up like eagles on the wing; God’s power will make us strong.
